SFS THE PLACE TO BE ON MONDAY, MARCH 15
9/03/2010 10:23:26 AM

The Sydney Football Stadium is the place to be on Monday night, March 15, when the Wests Tigers do battle with Manly Sea Eagles in round one of the Telstra Premiership.

A huge night of entertainment has been planned to mark the opening game of the season. There is an air of expectation around the Wests Tigers in the ‘Year of the Tiger’.

A large crowd is expected for the blockbuster which will see two special player milestones for the Wests Tigers.

Prop Keith Galloway will play his 100th NRL match and his 63rd in the Wests Tigers jersey.

The 107 kg prop has been impressive for the Wests Tigers since joining the club in 2006. A knee injury robbed him of the chance of a possible NSW jersey last season but a strong start to the year will see Galloway come into contention once again.

The second player milestone surrounds dual international Lote Tuqiri.

Tuqiri is expected to be named in the team on Tuesday and should he recover well from his long flight from England, is a good chance to make his debut for Wests Tigers. It will be his first rugby league match following a seven year stint in rugby and his 100th NRL match. Tuqiri has signed for three years with Wests Tigers.

Gates open at 4.40pm. Wests Tigers will tackle Manly in the opening round of the Toyota Cup competition from 4.45pm.

The NRL match will kick-off at 7pm.

Like everyone else I am looking forward to heading out to the SFS on Monday night to see the Wests Tigers give it to the silvertails. Tutty is right, it was interesting watching the boys training last Saturday I'm glad it was them and not me they earned their money running around in that heat, it was bad enough lining up in the heat for a sausage sanga!! that was about my speed.

Can't wait for Monday night. Let's hope we can set an attendance record for a Monday night game. I urge all Tigers fans to get out there and watch us flog the silvertails. ps Pratten Park - sorry, didn't realise the name was in use. i grew up just round the corner and first memory of football is my grandpa taking me to a Wests v Souths game there in 1973. Denis Pittard scored 3 tries for the rabbitohs. they won 20-13.

I'll be there. Good luck to all the players but especially Keith and Lote. Saw the guys training on Saturday and to use an unfortunate equine analogy I thought they looked like a Gai Waterhouse trained galloper, all bone and muscle, except for Tame Topou who looked in need of a run. If Percy Sykes is still around should get him to look at Taniela's leg, think he might've bowed a tendon. A coat-tugger told me Andrew Fifita could be a big improver. My tip, Tigers from Manly in the Exacta. Good punting. Tigers!!!

Come on Wests Tigers - where are the package tickets that we have purchased? I would hate to miss the Tiges flogging those Silvertails, (who can't even decide on a captain so they have 2). This is a great opportunity to make a positive start to season 2010 - so go the mighty WESTS TIGERS!
