Course Description

The playon products Wests Tigers Kids Triathlon is one event with the choice of two distances.

LONG COURSE 150m swim / 4km ride / 1.5km run

SHORT COURSE 75m swim / 2km ride / 1km run

The swim for both events will be conducted in the Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre. Waves will be small and regular with five kids being sent off every 60 seconds.

Once the swim is completed, athletes will run from the pool to Leichhardt No.1 oval,  the field adjacent to the pool and head into transition.

This is called T1 (the transition from swim to bike) and is where you collect your bike. Both Long and Short Course kids will walk / run their bikes onto Glover St before hopping on and riding down the hill to the shared path and the bottom. Turn left and follow the path all the way around the bay, passing in front of La Montage and turning around just before passing under the City West Link.

Both distances then ride back to bottom of Glover St. This is where the Short Course turn right and head back up Glover St and back into Transition. Meanwhile, the Long Course continue past Glover St riding east almost all the way to Victoria Rd. This is where they turn and head back to Glover St. They will come at Glover St from the opposite direction to the Short Course athletes, so will turn left, riding up the hill and into Transition.

T2 is where the bike is hung up on the rack and the running begins.

All athletes head out of transition and across Glover St onto Leichhardt No. 2 Oval.

Long Course will complete two laps of No. 2. Short Course will complete one lap before running up Mary St past the front entrance of the Aquatic Centre and into the top gate of Leichhardt Oval. Here you will run straight under the goal post to the northern end of the ground and finish – right in front of the Hill and score board.

Transition and registration will open early for the long course competitors, and will close just before the first wave commences at 7.30 am. The short course kids will start one hour later, so transition will stay open for them until 8.30 am. The reason we do this is because we can’t have kids racking bikes when the transition is live. Long and short course will have dedicated areas in transition as we are able to allow the different events in there at the same time
