Can the visitors make it four wins in a row heading into the bye next week?

Key Matchup — Dene Halatau vs. Clint Newton

Dene Halatau made a successful return from an injury suffered in the Club’s pre-season off the bench last week, and has earned himself the starting spot now as he seeks to make his way back into first-grade. The veteran forward offers great versatility in the middle of the field — able to cover at hooker or lock as well — and will certainly be looking for a big performance here in his first start for 2014. However, the same goes for Clint Newton in many respects. The 32-year-old has battled injury throughout 2014 and hasn’t had any good luck since returning to Newcastle from his two-year stint in Penrith. Having featured in successful campaigns for Newcastle early in his career, Newton knows what it takes to succeed in the NRL and will be desperate to have an impact here against a strong pack. It looms as a very intriguing battle up front indeed.
