Wests Tigers players Te Maire Martin and Manaia Cherrington have been named in the 2014 Holden Cup Team of the Year.

Te Maire Martin was named as the side's five-eighth, while Manaia Cherrington was selected as hooker.

The two Wests Tigers players join Under 20's representatives from eight other clubs in the 2014 Team of the Year.

Martin said that he was thrilled to be named in the team and that it had come as a surprise.

"I'm stoked actually," said Martin. "I only recently found out that we had been nominated for the team and then next minute we're in the team. At the start of the year I was stoked to be selected in Wests Tigers' Under 20's team, to now make it into the Team of the Year is great."

Cherrington said it was great to be named alongside his Wests Tigers teammate.

"Te Maire and I are pretty close on and off the field so it's a massive honour for the two of us to make it together and hopefully we can go on and play first grade one day, that's the big dream," said Cherrington.

Martin and Cherrington have featured heavily in Wests Tigers' Holden Cup side this year, with the team looking for a strong performance against the Sharks this Saturday to prepare them for the finals series.
