Wests Tigers captain Aaron Woods has undergone scans on an ankle injury suffered in yesterday’s match against the Newcastle Knights at Hunter Stadium.

The scans have revealed ligament damage and bone bruising in his left ankle, with club medical staff advising that the prop forward will be sidelined for between four and six weeks.

Woods will consult with a specialist over the coming days in the hope of returning to the field as soon as possible.

Woods left the field in the 62nd minute of yesterday's match with an ankle injury, with the Knights scoring a narrow 18-16 victory over Wests Tigers.

Wests Tigers take on the Melbourne Storm this week as Sunday afternoon football returns to Leichhardt Oval.
