Wests Tigers co-captain Chris Lawrence pulled no punches after Saturday's defeat to the Raiders, saying the disappointing defeat was solely on the playing group.

"That performance had nothing to do with the Coach — that's on us," Lawrence said.

"We know it's on us and we've got to look at ourselves and make sure we're better.

"We're professional athletes and we've got to prepare ourselves week in and week out to play at the best of our ability. Even though we'd been coming off a few losses, we had been doing that leading into Saturday, so we're not sure where that loss came from.

"We've got to be playing for our own pride," Lawrence enthused.

"That's first and foremost. As individuals, you play first-grade to win and be competitive and you never like getting a hiding. So for us, we've got to come out as individuals and play better, and that will make the team improve this week.
