Wests Tigers co-captain Chris Lawrence spoke from the sheds after tonight's win over South Sydney, saying it was one of the gutsiest wins he's ever witnessed.

Coming off a 60-6 drubbing by Canberra the week prior, Wests Tigers went into the match without starting props Aaron Woods and Tim Grant, lost five-eighth Mitchell Moses in the warmup and then played the entire second half without in-form fullback James Tedesco.

And while Jason Taylor's side had to weather a tough second half fight from South Sydney, Lawrence said he couldn't have been prouded of the effort the team produce on the night.

"It's probably up there with one of the gutsiest wins I've been a part of," he said.

"We had a point to prove from last week. It wasn't good enough for our fans and Members who had to sit and watch that, and we had to do something for ourselves.

"We had to hang in there and hang tough tonight and we did.

"I think the biggest thing is the belief to a lot of our younger guys that we can play that type of grinding footy and even when things go against us, we can adapt and win.

"I think for Wests Tigers [that] in the past, we can blow teams off the park but if a few things go against us we can struggle to hang in there. So tonight is a really good example of how we just need to hang in the game and the momentum can turn."
