Chris Lawrence says he's honoured to be recognised as a leader after being named captain of the City Origin side to take on Country Origin this Sunday in Tamworth.

Vice-captain at Club level and a co-captain alongside Dene Halatau in the past few weeks with Aaron Woods sidelined, Lawrence will make his representative captaincy debut this Sunday in the annual City-Country match and couldn't be prouded with the achievement.

"It's a huge honour to be recognised for what I've done at Wests Tigers," Lawrence said.

"Not only as a player but also a leader as well.

"I'm looking forward to leading the boys around this weekend for the first time.

"Camps like these are a great chance to learn off other players that you normally wouldn't have the chance to learn off and play with, and I'm looking forward to doing that."
