Wests Tigers captain Aaron Woods has given up an update on his injured ankle ahead of Sunday's Round 10 game against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

Woods, who went off injured in the second half of his side's Round 6 loss to the Newcastle Knights, said he was hopeful of a return this Sunday, but would need to get the full week of training under his belt first before he could make a proper call on his availability.

"I did my first session with the squad today," Woods said.

"I didn't finish the whole session, but that was planned. The Club's physio and rehab guys are just monitoring me and Tim Grant and easing us back in to it.

"I've just got to see how it pulls up this week.

"I'd love to play this week, but I've got to wait and see how it goes. I've done a lot of rehab and physio on it so far but it felt really good today doing my first bit of skill work.

"The plan was to be back for the Newcastle game [next week], but if it pulls up good this week then I might be a chance of getting out there this Sunday against the Bulldogs."

See what Aaron had to say in full about last week's win and his injury in the video above.
