Jordan Rankin says he feels honoured to wear the first ever Wests Tigers Indigenous jersey this weekend when his side take on the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

As all NRL games throughout Round 10 will celebrate and pay tribute the many Indigenous players and communities that play a vital role within Rugby League and wider society, the 24-year-old Rankin said it was a great privilege to wear a special Indigenous jersey for the round — echoing the sentiments of the entire Wests Tigers playing squad.

"It's a game that we've had on our calendar for a few weeks now," Rankin said.

"The boys are really rapt with the design [of the Indigenous Jersey] and how the colours of Wests Tigers have played a big role in the jersey and we're really looking forward to running out there in a new kit of something we've never done before as a Club.

"It's a beautiful jersey made by one of our trust Members, and it's something I think the boys have been looking forward to wearing for a couple of weeks now."

Rankin, who spent the last two years outside of Australia playing in Super League for Hull FC, said the opportunity to wear the strip in front of an Australian crowd was a huge honour.

"I'm very passionate about Australia's Indigenous heritage," he enthused.

"It's a round that I've looked forward to playing in many years before and again this year.

"I really feel very proud and privileged to be wearing this Indigenous jersey... [because] it's not just for Wests Tigers, but also for the community as a whole."
