Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that the Club has entered into a long-term agreement with NSW Touch Football.
The new three-year partnership will see Wests Tigers and NSW Touch Football work together to grow both Rugby League and Touch Football at a grassroots level.
Under the new agreement the two organisations will be working closely to ensure that both codes have a boost in profile, participation rates and game quality within the Wests Tigers footprint.
Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said that the Club was looking forward to growing this relationship with NSW Touch Football, and getting more people involved in both codes.
“We look forward to working with NSW Touch Football to bring more people to Touch Football and Rugby League as a whole, whether as a fan or a participant,” said Pascoe. “We know that Touch Football is very popular within our region with men, women and children of all ages and we’re keen to see those participation levels grow even more over the coming years.
“As a part of this agreement we’ll be working to increase the participation of women in the game, partly through the development of a hybrid game that will be played during the regular Rugby League season,” he said. “We’re also going to be working together to encourage participation in Touch Football during the summer months, providing opportunities for players to take to the field all year round.”
As a part of the new agreement Wests Tigers players will act as Touch Football Ambassadors at local events, with Touch Football activations to take place at Wests Tigers home games and community events.
NSW Touch Football Sport Manager Daniel Rushworth expressed his excitement on the announcement of the relationship.
“Today marks the commencement of a fantastic opportunity for our organisation and our Associations to work hand in hand with Wests Tigers to grow participation in both Touch Football and Rugby League,” said Rushworth.
“With Touch Football catering for all ages and abilities, and now through this relationship we have a full year participation program where yesterday’s, today’s and tomorrow’s participants can find a place on the field in Rugby League and Touch Football.
“With 10 Associations and over 5000 Touch Football participants already across the catchment we see the conversation of Rugby League players, fans and members as essential for further growth and continue to build the Rugby League family,” he said.
