Competition - NRL Premiership Round. Round - Round 20. Teams - St George Dragons v Wests Tigers. Date - 24th of July 2016. Venue - ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park, NSW. Photographer - Paul Barkley.

Wests Tigers fullback James Tedesco has capped off a stellar season by being named the 2016 Dally M Fullback of the Year at tonight’s Dally M Awards.

Despite finishing outside the top 10 for Dally M votes, the 23-year-old Tedesco was named as the game’s best fullback at the annual awards night at The Star City, Sydney — narrowly beating the likes of Darius Boyd, Ben Barba and Cameron Munster to the award.

The award comes on the back of a career-defining season for Tedesco, who finished 2016 as the Club’s equal top try-scorer with 14 tries, a State of Origin and Prime Minister’s XIII debutant, and in the running to make his Kangaroos debut later this year.

At only 23 years of age, Tedesco is already sixth on Wests Tigers’ all-time top try-scorers list with 45 tries, and has scored more tries than any other fullback in the Club’s history.

Wests Tigers would like to congratulate James on his Dally M Fullback of the Year Award!
