Wests Tigers forward Ava Seumanufagai says his team are ready to lift against an old foe, South Sydney, when they clash this Friday in the season opener.

With Wests Tigers winning the last three matches between the two sides, the 25-year-old Seumanufagai said there was something about the Rabbitohs that brings out the best in his team, and that they would be ready to go once again this weekend.

"Generally we go okay against them — I don't want to jinx it or anything," he laughed.

"We always fire up a little bit extra when we take on the Rabbitohs.

"They're just such a good test that I think it brings out that extra competition.

"Their forward pack is massive, and I always look forward to taking on their big boys.

"I guess if you want to be the best then you need to beat the best!"
