Q. Which underrated Wests Tigers player is in for the biggest year in 2017?

Brock Corfe, Media Manager

Ava Seumanufagai doesn’t often get the wraps he deserves but has been a key member of the side over the past few years. Closing in on 100 NRL games, the hard-working prop forward will step up again this year and provides a quality prop rotation with Aaron Woods and Tim Grant. Seumanufagai will play a key role, particularly during the Origin period when Woods departs for New South Wales duties.

Dan Talintyre, Digital & Social Media

There’s some recognition for Josh Aloiai after a breakout rookie season saw him feature in every game throughout the year, but I think the former Junior Kiwi will further establish himself as a key player in 2017. Aloiai’s ability to play good minutes at either prop, lock or on the edge gives him great versatility coming off the interchange bench or starting, and he could be one player to really step up when Aaron Woods is away on State of Origin commitments.

John Skandalis, Wests Tigers Life Member

He’s obviously pretty key to the team, but for me, Elijah Taylor still doesn’t get the raps that he should for the way he helps the team in both attack and defence. Having the full pre-season here and not trying to settle moving halfway through the year from Penrith I think will really help him as well and we’ll see ET go to another level again this year which could see him back in that Kiwis squad for the World Cup.

I reckon Ava Seumanufagai is one to watch for. He’s been really consistent over the last few years and I think he’ll get the chance this year to play some bigger minutes when Woodsy is away on State of Origin duties and the like. He always gives his all and I thought had a huge impact last year whenever he came off the bench, so he’s definitely a player to keep an eye out for me.

Be there for our first home game of 2017 when we take on the Penrith Panthers!
