After copping a monstrous hit from South Sydney forward Sam Burgess, Wests Tigers forward Elijah Taylor earns the Round 1 VB Hard Earned Effort of the Week.

Just 13 minutes in to the match, Burgess lined up the Kiwi international with a shot that split Taylor's ear and required stitches after the game.

However, despite the shot, Taylor bounced straight back up — while Burgess was still on the ground — and ran another 10 metres towards the Rabbitohs line.

Taylor would go on to record 41 tackles in the match to help his side to an opening round 34-18 victory over the Rabbitohs, and will face off against his former side Penrith this Sunday.

Be there for our first home game of 2017 when we take on the Penrith Panthers!
