Wests Tigers five-eighth Mitchell Moses says he’s determined to improve his own form over the next few games as the team looks to bounce back this Sunday.

Named the Club’s 2016 Player and Player's Player of the Year following his superb finish to the season, the Carlingford Cougars junior has again started season 2017 in strong fashion —scoring two tries and 28 points through the opening four weeks of the year.

However, off the back of several tough defeats and now missing halfback Luke Brooks with a hamstring injury, the 22-year-old is backing himself to help lift the team back on track, starting this Sunday when they take on the St. George-Illawarra Dragons.

“It’s tough with everything that’s going on at the moment,” Moses admitted, “but I think we showed in our footy last week that we can put things behind us on the field.

“We put in a good performance against the best team in the competition, and we were in a position to win that game — we probably should have won that.

“Hopefully we can learn from that and take that into the Dragons.

“I don’t think we’re too far off; we’re only four games into the season and everyone has their say about what’s wrong, but we’re just worrying about what we can do here.

“For me, I’m just trying to get my form back up to what it was last year,” he said.

“Jack Littlejohn has done the job before and he’ll definitely take some of that pressure off, but I guess there is a bit more onus on me during the game to do a bit more.

“I don’t mind that. I’ve handled it in the past and look forward to the challenge.”
