Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary and vice-captain Chris Lawrence spoke to the media following the side's thrilling 18-12 win over the Bulldogs tonight.

After a tough build-up during the week with contract discussions ongoing, Cleary said he was particularly proud of the way his team bandied together to produce a result.

“I'm proud of the team today," he said.

"I thought that first half was the best we’ve produced in my short time here.

“The guys understand now they are actually fit enough, it’s just some more mental application.

"Throughout the week and yesterday training session it was really obvious that they were actually really focused and determined, I think that’s evident in the game today.”

Cleary also made special mention of the return of Luke Brooks to the side.

“It gave the boys a lift and gives us a lot more options in the kicking game and attack," he said. "I thought he was very willing and good for him to come up with that last play which ended up as the win. It’s good for his confidence.”

“Today showed that we’re fully focused on that, still plenty of work to do but we’re competitive at the moment that’s if we can continue to do that. Continue to improve and evolve and we’ll end up where we deserve by the end of the year.”
