Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary gives the final word ahead of his side's Round 9 clash against the Cronulla Sharks this Saturday night at Leichhardt Oval.

After an impressive 18-12 win last Sunday against the Bulldogs, Cleary said he hoped to see another improvement in the team’s performance this Saturday night.

“For our team, we’ve been building the last couple of weeks and our performance last week wasn’t perfect by any stretch but I’m really looking forward to improving that again tomorrow night here at Leichardt," he said.

“We feel if we can get our best game on we’ll be more than competitive.

That’s what were trying to do.”

“We're trying to be competitive each week, which the last three games we have been.”

“There’s a lot to improve on and we all understand that.

"That what were about, if we can improve then we give ourselves every chance to win.”

After dropping off somewhat in the second halves over the past month, Cleary said it was an area his side needed to improve on in order to continue their strong performances.

“We probably need to improve in the second halves.

"It's an area we need to improve on.

“Everyone’s always looking for an 80-minute performance and we're still building towards our best and we're looking towards taking another step tomorrow night.”

Finally, Cleary stated that he’s looking forward to playing at Leichhardt as a home coach on Saturday night, having coached and played at the ground many times as the opposition.

“I was a Balmain fan back in the day so I used to look forward to coming here as a kid," he said.

“Throughout my playing and coaching career its always a good venue to come to. So hopefully to be on the receiving end of some favorable calls would be good tomorrow night.”
