Wests Tigers halfback Luke Brooks spoke from the field after his side's tight Round 9 loss against the Cronulla Sharks on Saturday night at Leichhardt Oval.

Despite a strong individual performance from himself, an honest Brooks said there was still plenty of room for improvement in his, and the team's game, following the six-point defeat.

"I thought we played well, but the last 20 just wasn't good," he said.

"I've got to finish our sets better.  That would have helped us tonight, but we'll move on.

"I really think we should have won that game — we were right in it.

"We let them get away with two pretty soft tries at the end.

"Our second halves just haven't been up to scratch," he said.

"I don't know what happenes after half-time, but it's just not good enough, and we need to make sure we fix that up soon because we can't keep letting it happen if we want to win."
