Wests Tigers Life Members Dene Halatau and John Skandalis helped take part in the 2017 National Simultaneous Storytime across Sydney on Wednesday.
Halatau read to children at Dobroyd Point Public School while Skandalis spent time at Haberfield Library, with the trio joining many others in the National Simultaneous Storytime by reading The Cow Tripped Over the Moon written by Tony Wilson at 11:00am on Wednesday.
Wests Tigers also supported National Simultaneous Storytime at Ashfield Library and Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Primary School in North Strathfield.
The National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
Now in it's 17th year, the NSS helps promote the value of reading and literacy as well as storytime activities in public libraries and communities around the country.
In 2016 over 520,000 children at over 3,500 locations across Australia took part in National Simultaneous Storytime with that number expected to rise again this year.
