Wests Tigers forward Elijah Taylor is goal for the remainder of 2017 is simply staying focused on the job at hand, and encouraging the younger players to do the same.

And as one of the senior players in the squad, Taylor knows the importance of doing as such.

“As a senior player it’s a bit of a mental battle when you know you’re not going to make the finals," Taylor admitted. "But it's important for the senior players to make sure we're preparing as well as we can for games to make sure we're leading the young boys in the squad.

"The young boys are just enjoying playing first grade and they’re still in that buzz.

"So because we have such a young team here, it's important to really lead in that way."

When asked if Taylor already had his sights set on what was bound to be an exciting 2018 season for Wests Tigers, the second rower said his focus remained on the end of 2017.

“My focus is doing my job here at the Wests Tigers," he enthused.

“Playing my role as consistently as I can, I want to be a consistent player.

“We’ve been right in the games right up till the last two minutes the last few weeks.

“It’s frustrating mentally but we’ve just got to focus on concentrating in those clutch moments and learning from them and taking them to the next game.”
