After a dream 2017 season so far, Wests Tigers rookie forward Alex Twal says he wants to continue to put his best foot forward and make the year the best he can.

A regular in Ivan Cleary’s forward pack since a superb first-grade debut against the Newcastle Knights in Round 17, the Lebanese World Cup hopeful said he was relishing the opportunities afford to him throughout season 2017, and simply wants to ensure he caps off the year in the best way possible by carrying his form through to the end of Round 26.

“I’m just enjoying getting used to playing week-in and week-out,” Twal said.

“It’s good fun trying to match it against some of the best players in the sport.

“I think the culture around the Club has really been positive in the last few weeks.”

“Everyone is really playing for each other, we’re playing for the coaching staff and we’re playing for the fans, so everyone is just focused on putting our best foot forward and ending the year on a positive and giving us something to take in to 2018.”

Despite only just turning 21, Twal has shown no hesitation settling in to first-grade — averaging over 100 metres and 30 tackles in just over 42 per minutes per game.

Incredibly, Twal has missed just two tackles all year to lead Wests Tigers with a 99 percent tackle completion rate, but says he’s simply enjoying being in first-grade.

“I’m just trying to make sure every week I’m consistent with my performances,” he said.

“I think that’s the key to being a good first-grader — being consistent every week.

“As a team we’ve got to make sure we’re focused on bouncing back from each game.

“We’ll just try and build on our performance from the week before, and that starts on Sunday against Manly so hopefully we’ll come away from that with the win.”

Be there as Sunday afternoon footy returns to Leichhardt Oval against the Sea Eagles!
