Four intriguing quarterfinals await at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, kicking off in Darwin on Friday night as competition favourites Australia take on Toa Samoa.

Saturday's slate will see Mate Ma'a Tonga face Lebanon for a spot in the final four, while New Zealand will face Fiji in Wellington for what's shaping as the pick of the quarterfinals.

England will close out the weekend when they take on Papua New Guinea in Melbourne, with the Kumuls playing their first game of this World Cup outside of Port Moresby.

Wests Tigers will have a several players in action over the weekend, all of which will feature in Saturday's games as Tui Lolohea and Mahe Fonua (Tonga) take on Alex Twal (Lebanon), while Russell Packer and Elijah Taylor (New Zealand) play Kevin Naiqama and Taane Milne (Fiji).

All matches will be broadcast live in Australia via Channel 7 and 7live.com.au.
