Wests Tigers 2018 recruit Taane Milne has been in a class of his own so far at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup with more try involvements than any other player.
Through the opening three games of the tournament, Milne has either directly scored or assisted a staggering 11 tries — one more than Fiji teammate Suliasi Vunivalu.
Milne opened his World Cup campaign with two tries and two try-assists in Fiji’s first-up win over the United States, before adding another two tries and three try-assists in the Bati’s thrashing of Wales. He might not have crossed for a try against the Italians last Friday night, but another two try-assists from the powerful centre took his try-assist tally for the tournament to seven — three clear of the next best player in that category.
Milne is the only player to feature in the top five players for tries and try-assists in the opening three games, and will look to continue that form when Fiji take on New Zealand in a mouthwatering quarterfinal this coming Saturday afternoon in Wellington.
