Ivan Cleary

Ivan Cleary joined Wests Tigers in Round 6 as the Club's Head Coach, following previous coaching appointments at the New Zealand Warriors and Penrith Panthers.

As a player, Cleary played 186 first-grade games between 1992 and 2002, scoring 64 tries and 1,363 points in total — amassing 284 points in 1998 to break the Top Pointscoring record.

Following his retirement from the game in 2002, Cleary began coaching in an Assistant role at the Sydney Roosters before moving back to the Warriors as an Assistant in 2004.

He took over as Head Coach of the Warriors in 2006 — coaching the team for six seasons including a Grand Final appearance — before joining the Panthers for four years from 2012.

He was named the Dally M Coach of the Year in 2014, after taking Penrith to the finals.

After finishing up with Penrith in 2015, Cleary coached the Prime Minister's XIII team to a dominant 40-12 win over PNG, before joining Wests Tigers in 2017 on a three-and-a-half year deal that will keep him at the Club until at least the end of the 2020 season.
