15 Moments for 15 Seasons

Wests Tigers are counting down the top 15 moments in the Club's history to commemorate with their 15th Anniversary NRL season.

As voted by the fans, here's Moment No. 9.

Not even David Nofoaluma himself knew how good his try against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in Round 20, 2013 was until he got home.

“I knew it was all right but I was pretty surprised when I got home,” he recalled.

“I had it recorded on [Foxtel] IQ and played it a bit when I got home, which is when I got why I was getting all these messages from people.

“All the boys were giving me raps on the field for it, but I was just glad that I got it down.

"Benji kicked early in the tackle count, and playing with Benji, you’ve just got to be ready for that type of thing all the time, " laughed Nofoaluma.

"I just timed it well and hoped for the best, and yeah, guess it turned it all right."

All right, indeed.

The match itself might have been another tough night for Wests Tigers in a generally disappointing 2013 campaign, but Nofoaluma’s soaring effort was one that was not soon going to be forgotten by the fans present at Campbelltown on the night.

Especially after it started to go viral on international TV and YouTube.

Nofoaluma's effort was suitably rewarded with the 2013 Dally M Try of the Year Award.

Having only come into the team in the early part of 2013 for his debut match, Nofoaluma’s sensational try against Manly Sea Eagles was just the icing on the cake for what had already been a stellar debut season for the young winger.

A match-winning try in his second game against the North Queensland Cowboys added to his resume as well, the Campbelltown junior finished the season with eight tries in 15 games and averaged over 100m per game. He then capped all of that off with a debut appearance in the Junior Kangaroos team at the end of the year.

But he’s never quite scored another try like he did that night in Campbelltown.

Not yet, anyway.
