Wests Tigers junior rep teams will face off against each other in Round 6 this Saturday at Lidcombe Oval where the season begins for our Jersey Flegg Cup side.
Our NRL and NSW Cup teams might have the opening-round bye, but there’s still plenty of rugby league action this weekend, and it’s all happening at the home of the Magpies.
There’ll be four games in total as part of Wests Tigers Club Day at Lidcombe Oval kicking off bright and early at 9:30am, and wrapping up around 3.30pm.
The day will feature a slice of history too with Fijian side the Silktails playing against Wests Tigers in their very first match in the expanded 14-team Jersey Flegg Cup.
Earlier in the day Wests Magpies will play Balmain Tigers in both the Harold Matthews and SG Ball Cup, while the first game of the day sees the Magpies and Tigers Under 16s development teams in action.
There’ll be quite a few Wests Tigers NRL and NRLW players there on the day signing autographs and mingling with members and fans, and the Roar Store van will also be on site.
So dust off the picnic basket and make a full day of it this Saturday at Lidcombe Oval.

This week we come up against Balmain Tigers on what will be a big day for the club.
With all the hype around the day itself, the boys this week have put their focus on us doing our job and staying within our game plan. We know we’ll be in for a tough game and Tony [Bazouni] will his boys fired up for this game.
This week we see our rotation continue with Teancum Epati making his Harold Matthews debut and we like to make it a special moment for the boys when they get the opportunity to play their first game

After a big trip to New Zealand, we regroup this week for another big game against the Magpies. It is a game that we very much look forward to every year and with a big day planned at Lidcombe Oval, everyone is feeling the excitement.
Looking at the table, with the Magpies on top, the pressure will be on them to get a big result. This week will see the long-awaited club debut for Zach Seckhold and an opportunity for a few development players to come in and impress.

This inter-club challenge is going to be a very highly contested game. Both clubs have had this round marked on their calendar since the draw first came out and it’s shaping up to be a great day of rugby league.
Coming off the back of two wins, the boys know the importance of this game. It’s a game where we know Balmain won’t be leaving anything in the tank. Bring on Saturday and may the best team win.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what this group can do this week and throughout the season.
They have handled a vigorous pre-season and now we are looking to see improvements from our trials in areas we've addressed as a squad.
We're anticipating the Silktails will be physical and fast, so we’ll need to match that and start well. If we keep a narrow focus on the things that we need to do this week, the result should take care of itself.
