One of Wests Tigers major sponsors in Allied Express gave the community of Claymore an afternoon to remember today.

Allied Express, the back of jersey sponsors, purchased the BBQ with Wests Tigers players at the Clubs grand final luncheon last year.

Colin McDowell, Allied Express CEO, decided to donate the auction prize to the people of Claymore after seeing a Four Corners report on the community.

It led to Wests Tigers players Chris Lawrence, Tim Moltzen, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Aaron Woods, Matt Groat and Masada Iosefa spending a few hours participating in rugby league clinics to signing autographs and posing for photos.

Murdoch-Masila, Groat and Iosefa also served as waiters on the BBQ.

I thought it would be good to bring their local NRL footy team to them and show the people here that there are opportunities out there to become somebody, McDowell said.

Chris Lawrence, a Campbelltown boy, has now become somebody so this was just my way of doing something for them. Im just fortunate that I am in a position that I can do this.

It has been a terrific afternoon.
