Wests Tigers winger David Nofoaluma will make his NRL debut against South Sydney at ANZ Stadium this Friday night.

Nofoaluma will replace Matt Utai on the wing after Utai failed an injury test on lower leg cork this morning. He suffered the injury in last week's loss to Cronulla.

A Campbelltown junior, Nofoaluma was a member of the premiership winning Wests Tigers side in 2012 under Coach Todd Payten.

The former Australian Schoolboy has worked his way into the NRL squad and has developed his game further under Coach Mick Potter.

"David is an exciting young player," Potter said.

"He'll get his chance to test himself against the best this week.

"He's a youngster with plenty of potential as we saw with the U20s last year and he has backed that up against this season."

Nofoaluma said he was looking forward to the step up to first grade.

"I'm very excited. Like all young players, you dream of playing in the NRL,'' he said.

"I just want to contribute to the team and do the best I can and try to help the boys get a win."

Nofoaluma becomes the 164th player to play first grade for Wests Tigers.
