Passionate Wests Tigers supporter Eric Kontos has called on supporters to 'keep the faith' at Leichhardt Oval tonight.
Kontos, the NSW Fairfax Community Newspapers
Group Sports Editor, has covered the Wests Tigers since the historic announcement of the joint the venture in 1999.
In his 'This Sporting Life' column today, he calls on all supporters to rally behind the team tonight.
Here is an extract from the column
"Theres people out there who will follow the Tigers only when they are winning. And they have decided tonight is too cold to go support a team that needs their support more than ever.
When your team is down is when the true fan stands to be counted; what good are they when the team is winning and every man and his dog get on the bandwagon?
So I say to all true Wests Tigers fans, whether they come from the Magpies or the Balmain corner of the joint venture: Lets prove the critics wrong by turning up in big numbers tonight.
The true fans know the players on the field are trying their hardest but because of injuries we lack the class to win matches. But it only takes one match, one win. It could be tonight.
The night we kept the faith for the Wests Tigers."
