One of Rugby League's most famous grounds, Leichhardt Oval brings back exciting memories for many people, including Wests Tigers winger David Nofoaluma.
Flashback to Round 11 last year, Nofoaluma is playing just his second NRL game in a side desperate to break a seven-game losing streak against North Queensland.
With the lead changing hands on numerous occasions in atrocious conditions, the Cowboys looked destined to take the two points heading into the last three minutes with a 20-18 advantage.
That was until the Wests Tigers backline were presented with one last opportunity, spreading the ball wide and eventually finding the rookie winger who somehow planted the ball down - just centimetres inside the right corner post of the Mary Street end.
“My main memory of playing at Leichhardt Oval is scoring the match winning try last year against the Cowboys in the last minute, it was an awesome feeling,” Nofoaluma said.
“It was only my second game and just seeing the crowd go wild was unreal, it’s a great atmosphere there.
“For the team it was really special to break that seven-game losing streak and to be the player to score that winning try was really exciting.”
