Wests Tigers centre Asipeli Fine has been named in the 2014 VB NSW Cup Team of the Year, chosen by a mix of New South Wales Rugby League selectors and fans.

The 21-year-old Fine played 21 NSW Cup games for Wests Tigers in 2014 — scoring four tries — and was rewarded for his strong performances throughout the year with his first-grade debut for the Club in Round 25 against the Canberra Raiders.

His selection in the 2014 VB NSW Cup Team of the Year follows a strong 2013 season, where he was named as Wests Tigers' VB NSW Cup Player of the Year.

Wests Tigers' NSW Cup Coach Paul Fletcher said that he was "extremely happy" for the Mascot Jets junior and said that his selection in the side was well-deserved.

"Asipeli's been one of the strongest players all year," he said, "and I couldn't be happier for him that he's being recognised for all the hard work that he puts in.

"Every time he takes the field, I know that he's going to give everything he's got in defence and always put his body on the line for his teammates. He's got a smart head on his shoulders and he's developing into a really strong player.

"He's obviously got his first-grade debut this year, which I was really pleased for him to get, and now this just shows how strong he's been in 2014."
