Wests Tigers forward Dene Halatau says he's right where he wants to be after announcing a new contract extension that will keep him at the Club for another year.

Halatau has played a total of 226 NRL matches since making his first-grade debut in 2003, with more than 150 appearances for Wests Tigers — captaining the Club for the first time in his career this year in Round 11. And with another season at Wests Tigers locked in, the 2005 premiership-winner says he's more excited than ever to be a part of the Club.

"I'm really excited about the guys in this squad," Halatau enthused. "A big reason for re-signing was wanting to be a part of these guys moving forward and some of that success.

"I'm always someone that thinks I can improve.

I've been around for a while but Every year I try and find something that I can work on and that I can improve on so that I contribute more for the team. Hopefully next year that's what I do — contribute a lot on the field — and hopefully we can get some success."
