Wests Tigers NYC Holden Cup side have gone down to the Newcastle Knights in a tough encounter today at Hunter Stadium, with the home side winning
Newcastle opened the scoring in the eighth minute when a lovely grubber from Jack Cogger found Brock Lamb unmarked underneath the posts for a simple finish. The five-eighth made no mistake with the conversion from in front to take the score to 6-0.
Wests Tigers hit back in the 20th minute when Jacob Liddle forced his way over from dummy half, with Veiru Mapesone's conversion leveling the match at 6-6.
However, an error from the kickoff would give the Knights the perfect opportunity to restore their six-point advantage, with Kainoa Gudgeon diving over in the corner.
Lamb's successful sideline conversion gave the home side a 12-6 lead after 23 minutes.
Having watched his opposite number in Liddle score a four-pointer earlier in the match, Knights hooker Joe Morris put his side even further in front after 33 minutes with a strong effort from in front, allowing Lamb to convert and give Newcastle a commanding 18-6 lead.
