Keebra Park has lost in heartbreaking fashion to Westfields Sports High in the 2016 GIO National Schoolboys Final, with a try on the siren seeing them beaten 26-24.

After heading into half-time locked at 12-12, Keebra Park fell behind early into the second half, before two tries in the space of five minutes to fullback Connelly Lemuelu (who will join Wests Tigers Holden Cup squad in 2017) gave the Queensland champions the lead.

Lemuelu had been the hero one week earlier, kicking the winning field goal in Golden Point to give Keebra Park the Queensland State Championship over Coombabah, but his efforts were not enough as Westfields crossed for two tries in the final minutes to steal the win.

Wests Tigers had previously announced six members of the 2016 Keebra Park team would join the Club's Holden Cup program next season, including Lemuelu, Liam Pakau, Oscar Tui, Liam Hampson, Kelepi Lui and Australian Schoolboys forward Tom Mikaele.
