Wests Tigers young forward Josh Aloiai says looking back at the positive pre-season the team has had, he feels confident about the season that lies ahead.

One of the Club's best throughout the Auckland Nines and again in trial matches against the Cowboys and Dragons, the 2016 Club Rookie of the Year said an additional intensity during pre-season has the team poised to start the year in the strongest possible fashion this Friday.

“We want to be the best Wests Tigers team we can be," he said.

"We’ve been training really hard. It’s been an awesome pre-season.

"We had a few knocks at the start of the pre-season, but everyone’s come right and everyone’s looking good [for Round 1], so it’s looking positive going forward.

“I had a few knocks; obviously I broke my jaw but I’ve bounced back now and I feel good."

Changing positions from the back row to prop during the trials has been a new experience for Aloiai but he says he feels confident in the change with the help of his teammates.

“I was playing the middle through the trials and I felt good," he said. "I’m loving it there.

"The other boys are helping me out so, we’re all just working hard for each other. That’s been our main focus — we just need to start our game strong this week and worry about that."
