Wests Tigers Coach Ivan Cleary gives the final word ahead of his side's clash against the North Queensland Cowboys tommorrow at 1300 SMILES Stadium in Townsville.

Speaking at the Club's final training session, Cleary said his first week in charge of the team had been enjoyable, and he was looking forward to seeing the team in action on Saturday.

"It's been good to come up here and get out of Sydney," Cleary said.

"I've been in the job for five days and we've got a game tomorrow and the performance there is what we're concentraining on. To this point, the players have been very focussed."

"There's opportunities every week in the NRL and for the guys in this team, it's about trying to improve on what they've been doing — hopefully this week has given them some certainty.

"Preparations have been pretty smooth and hopefully we'll see that reflected in the game."

Cleary also reserved special praise for vice-captain Chris Lawrence who will play his 200th NRL game in Wests Tigers colours — commenting how special the milestone was for Lawrence.

"Isn't that a good story," he commented. "Would be nice to hear more about that.

"I think Chris is only the fourth player in the Club's history to achieve the mark, and 200 games is a tremendous achievement for anyone in the NRL, particulary as a one-club man.

"Chris is a very humble young man who goes out and does his best every week.

"He loves the Club, and that's great to see.

"They're the kind of guys this Club needs in this journey ahead."
