After a tight first half, Wests Tigers Holden Cup side have gone down to the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles 32-22 today in their Round 19 clash at Lottoland.
Losing fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen to injury in the opening few minutes, Wests Tigers held a surprise 10-6 lead shortly before the break after tries to Jakob Giles and Peter Pakoti.
However, a seven-tackle set followed by a short kickoff gone wrong, the Sea Eagles hit back with two quick tries of their own to take a 16-10 half-time lead in to the sheds at Lottoland.
The home side continued their momentum in to the second half with tries to Semisi Kioa, Thomas Wright and Bilal Maarbani extending the hosts' lead, before tries to Siaosi Nasilai and Alex Seyfarth cut the lead to 10 points. However, it was too little too late for Chris Hutchison's side, who will look to bounce back in the winners circle next Sunday, July 16 when they take on the Parramatta Eels at ANZ Stadium from 1:45pm.
Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles 32 (Maarbani 2, Wright, Kioa, Andrews, Anderson tries; Anderson 4/6 goals) def. Wests Tigers 22 (Giles, Pakoti, Nasilai, Seyfarth tries; Tautaiolefua 3/4 goals)
Be there at ANZ Stadium on Sunday, July 23 when we take on the Parramatta Eels!
