2018 NRL Fantasy Guide

Several new signings have jumped on the bus at the Tigers, and there are Fantasy points up for grabs with James Tedesco and Aaron Woods having moved on.

Ivan Cleary's side has added plenty of depth with Josh Reynolds, Benji Marshall, Russell Packer, Ben Matulino and Chris McQueen just some of the recruits for 2018 but it's the old familiar faces who could prove to be Fantasy gold.

FANTASY GUN — David Nofoaluma, $659,000

The only player in the NRL to rank in the league's top five for run metres, tackle breaks and offloads, Nofoaluma is one of the few genuine wingers who can be a consistent scorer in Fantasy. He made 45 points a game in 2017 despite scoring just eight tries – he scored 14 the year before – and will be an even more important attacking weapon for the Tigers next season after the exit of James Tedesco.

VALUE BUY — Alex Twal, $586,000

Twal was a quiet success story at the Tigers in 2017 with a solid 41 points a game, but he could be set for bigger things after a stunning run at the Rugby League World Cup with Lebanon. At that tournament Twal averaged 124 metres and 36 tackles a game – the equivalent of 48 points from two stats alone – and he could be one of the forwards to help fill the void after the departure of Aaron Woods.

WILDCARD — Tuimoala Lolohea, $612,000

The former Warrior has already made himself at home at the Tigers, performing above expectations in his first year at the club after a mid-season switch. A fringe player at his old club, Lolohea scored 48 points a game when given a playmaker role at the Tigers and he looked just as good for Tonga at the World Cup. He could be the man asked to fill James Tedesco's old role at fullback and if he can keep scoring like he did at five-eighth he'll be good value for Fantasy coaches.
