Fresh off inking a new deal with the club, Wests Tigers winger Corey Thompson says the belief in the side this year won't be going away any time in the near future.
Tipped by many to be winless through the opening five weeks with two games against the defending premiers and last year's top four all in a row, Ivan Cleary's side have defied in the odds in many respects to sit comfortably in side the top four heading out of the first month of the season.
For Thompson, that form hasn't come as a surprise, with the winger pointing to way in which the coaching staff have instilled belief in the side from the start of pre-season back in November last year.
"It's good being the underdogs," Thompson enthused of the team's start to the year.
"We get to go out and play how we train; we treat every the same whether it's Melbourne or a side who is struggling. We prepare as if they haven't lost yet and just try to put it on the way we know how.
"We had a lot of people writing us off but the only people who had to believe was ourselves and the team.
"It's shown in the first four rounds — we defend as a team and we can also attack as well.
"Our key structure is the way in which we scramble for each other and defending and attacking together. If one person makes a mistake, we pride ourselves as being able to clean it up as a team.
"I think a lot of the belief has come through what Ivan and all the coaching staff have given us," he said.
"Ivan has been nothing positive with me and I know that he's got my back. I know that if I make a mistake, the club and the team have got my back and they'll be able to make that back for me."
