Wests Tigers will play the first 6:00pm Friday game in the club's history this weekend when they take on the Newcastle Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium.

The early Friday night game was introduced at the start of the 2017 season, but Wests Tigers are yet to have been allocated the slot in either a home or away match until Round 21 of the 2018 season.

Remarkably, in the time that it's taken for Wests Tigers to play one early Friday game, the Knights have played in the 6:00pm Friday time slot 14 times, with this week's game bringing up number 15.

Nathan Brown's side will also technically feature in the 6:00pm timeslot one more time in 2018 — playing the New Zealand Warriors at Mount Smart Stadium at 8:00pm local time (6:00pm AEST).

Wests Tigers will certainly be hoping that their debut in the early Friday night game brings better luck than their recent performances on Friday Night Football. Ivan Cleary's side are 0-2 this year after going down in controversial circumstances to the Brisbane Broncos in Round 3 and then the Penrith Panthers in Round 11, and haven't won a fixture on Friday night since Cleary took over the team in Round 6, 2017.

The club's last win on a Friday night was in the opening round of the 2017 season when Wests Tigers beat the South Sydney Rabbitohs 34-18, while their sole performance at the former Newcastle International Sports Centre on a Friday night saw them emerge with a 23-6 win in Round 11 of the 2010 season.

With hopes of making the finals on the line, Wests Tigers will certainly be hoping that record continues!
