Wests Tigers induct three new Life Members

Wests Tigers have tonight inducted three new Life Members of the club — former players Chris Heighington and Beau Ryan as well as long-time sponsor and partner Peter Binet.

In total, Wests Tigers have now inducted 16 Life Members, with the three joining several other former players and notable contributors in the celebrated list.

Heighington's induction as a Life Member of Wests Tigers comes after 16 years in first-grade, with the forward amassing more than 200 games for the club and becoming the first player in club history to reach the milestone.

Following his debut for the club in 2003, Heighington was an instrumental part of Wests Tigers Premiership victory in 2005 and the club's success on and off the field — playing every game of the 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 seasons.

He was named Wests Tigers Player of the Year in 2008 and made his representative debut for both Country Origin and the Prime Minister's XIII team

Heighington finished his career with time at the Sharks and Knights, with his 334 career matches leaving him as the third-most capped forward of all time.

Ryan's induction as a Life Member of Wests Tigers comes after 126 first-grade games — 104 of which came for Wests Tigers.

A Western Suburbs Magpies junior, Ryan made his first-grade debut for the club in 2007 and soon became an integral part of Tim Sheens' side with a strong try-scoring record that saw him score 46 tries in his 104 games for the club.

Outside of that, Ryan has been a positive and engaging representative for rugby league in the media and it was that enthusiasm and charisma that made him a key and popular member of the Wests Tigers team.

Binet Homes founder and owner Peter Binet has been involved with Wests Tigers ever since its foundation in 2000, having previously supported Balmain.

He has contributed immensely to the club over the years as the long-term Number One ticket holder and is a proud advocate of the club's junior pathways program.

Binet's involvement with Wests Tigers stretches far beyond the first-grade side, and he remains an extremely strong supporter of the club and the direction it is heading in under Coach Michael Maguire.

Wests Tigers would like to congratulate Chris, Beau and Peter on their induction as Life Members of the club tonight!
