2021 Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership Awards

Wests Tigers Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership players Emily Curtain and Page McGregor have both picked up awards following the 2021 season.

Curtain was voted by her teammates as the Players’ Player of the Year for 2021, while McGregor was rewarded for an impressive season by taking out the top award for the Player of the Year.

Returning from rugby union and joining Wests Tigers, McGregor had a year to remember as she was dynamic in the centres and became the focal point of her side’s attack throughout the season.

The Maori All Stars representative had an immediate impact as she scored the team’s opening try of the campaign and finished the year with 10 four-pointers to her name.

The Curtain twin sisters — Emily and Sophie — were also recognised by being named as finalists for the top award.

McGregor was also shortlisted for the Players’ Player Award — alongside winger Rebecca Pollard, who had a breakout season for Wests Tigers — however Emily Curtain claimed the award from her peers.

Impressing at halfback, Curtain had her best season to date as she led her side to a top six finish before the season was suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Not only was Curtain responsible for setting up a number of tries throughout the season, but she also starred with her impressive kicking game to get her side on the front foot, as well as producing a number of clutch conversions across the year.

She was rewarded for a standout season by being named in the Parramatta Eels’ NRLW squad for the upcoming campaign, which will kick-off early in the new year as part of a year-long calendar of women’s rugby league in 2022.

Wests Tigers would like to congratulate Emily and Page on their awards!
