2021 Jersey Flegg Awards

Wests Tigers duo Rua Ngatikaura and Liam Scolari have both picked up Jersey Flegg awards after impressing throughout 2021.

Scolari was voted by his teammates as the Players’ Player of the Year after an impressive season, while Ngatikaura was rewarded for a great 2021 campaign by taking out the top gong as Player of the Year.

Rua captained the team and led by example, driving the team culture on and off the field.

Playing a similar role to Melbourne’s Brandon Smith, starting the game at hooker, Rua quite often filled the lock position during matches.

His attitude was always on display, he worked tirelessly in middle defensively and encouraged those around him to meet the same standards.

Logen Dillon and Brandon Webster-Mansfield also had great season for Wests Tigers and were acknowledged for their efforts by being named as finalists for Player of the Year.

Ngatikaura was also nominated for Players’ Player — alongside Aiden Perry — however winger Scolari claimed that honour, as voted by his peers.

Liam's hard running in yardage and ability to finish a scoring opportunity was never underestimated by his teammates.

He was a leader on field, continually identifying opposition individuals and plays, as well as encouraging those around him.

Wests Tigers would like to congratulate Rua and Liam on their awards!
