Match Report: Jersey Flegg Round 18 vs Panthers

Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg Cup outfit went down 26-16 to the Panthers on Saturday at Leichhardt Oval.

Missing the likes of star fullback Jahream Bula and rampaging prop Christian Ma’anaima, an early surge from Penrith was too much to overcome for the home side.

The Panthers came to play early, scoring three unanswered tries through Cody Lawson, Kristian Li Mai and Ryley Smith.

Kurt Picken crossed to break Penrith’s try-scoring streak, however, they hit back shortly before half-time, with Smith securing his double.

Trailing by 16 at the break, Wests Tigers needed a big second half, and it started positively with hooking duo Jaycob Anjoul and Michael Tannous scoring to put them within one try.

However, a late try from Tyreece Matangi secured a Penrith victory, 26 points to 16.
