Jersey Flegg Cup side books place in the finals

Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg Cup side has produced its biggest win of the season to date, upsetting the first-placed Roosters to secure a well-deserved finals spot.

The Roosters took an ominous lead early after Vuate Karawalevu and Zac Montgomery crossed back-to-back, before Livai Saukuru and Jahream Bula brought Wests Tigers back into the contest.

Saukuru and Bula have been two of the team’s best performers throughout the season, scoring nine and seven tries, respectively, in 2022.

Luke Knight scored just before the break to give the Roosters a 16-12 half-time lead.

From there, the two sides went try-for-try, with James Valevatu’s effort cancelled out by Tyler Moriarty’s score.

After a second try from Valevatu with eighteen minutes to go made it four tries to four, a perfect afternoon with the boot from Livai Saukuru allowed Wests Tigers to secure a lead they wouldn’t rescind.

The result books Wests Tigers a place in the 2022 Jersey Flegg Cup finals.

The team's final game of the regular season is against St George Illawarra next weekend.
