Match Report: Jersey Flegg Cup Round 24 vs Dragons

Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg side went down 32-12 to a desperate St George Illawarra outfit at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday night.

Dragons lock Dallas Collins crashed over to score an early try for the away side, and their lead was extended when winger Alex Lobb caught a difficult bomb and promoted the football to allow Jackson Shereb to score.

Wests Tigers scored their first of the night thanks to a Mikey Tannous offload  which resulted in Finnley Neilsen crossing off some second phase play.

Livai Saukuru then showcased his tackle-busting ability shortly after, breaking the line and putting Trey Peni into space to score in the corner.

A Braxton Wallace short ball to Josh Coric gave the Dragons an 18-6 lead at the break.

In the second stanza, the Dragons, who needed a win to make the Jersey Flegg Cup semi-finals, took control of the contest. Their first second half try came when  Lobb dived on the ball in the in-goal to touch down.

With four minutes remaining, second-rower Hayden Budd drew in multiple Tigers defenders and flicked the ball to his winger Callum Gromek to make the score-line 32-12 at full-time.

The result means that Wests Tigers will again face St George Illawarra at Kogarah next weekend in an elimination final.
