Easter Monday at Accor Stadium

Wests Tigers will return to Accor Stadium for the club’s Easter Monday match against Parramatta Eels, aiming for a bumper crowd for the marquee fixture.

The Round 6 local derby is not only one of our ‘must see’ matches in 2023 but is one of the biggest home and away matches on the NRL calendar every year, and therefore, will require a greater capacity than what CommBank Stadium can provide.

Wests Tigers Members who have CommBank Stadium included in their 2023 Membership, will be granted full access to the Easter Monday match at Accor Stadium, with more information to be provided closer to the game.

The traditional Easter Monday match between Wests Tigers and Parramatta Eels has consistently attracted a big crowd.

It was first played at the Olympic stadium (then ANZ Stadium) in 2014, when a crowd of 50,668 watched Wests Tigers claw to a 21-18 victory.

The Eels won 36-22 when the fixture was last played at Homebush in 2021, with just short of 30,000 in attendance.

It was then a sell-out at CommBank Stadium last year when Jackson Hastings slotted a 79th minute field goal to claim a one-point win for the visitors.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe says playing a marquee game at a much bigger stadium, makes perfect sense.

“Our traditional Easter Monday clash against Parramatta is a feature event of the season and I’m sure it will again attract a bumper crowd,” said Pascoe.

We don’t want to put a limit on the number of members and fans who can attend, so playing at Accor Stadium is the right option for us.

"More importantly, it's the best options for our fans.

“We can aim for the sky in promoting this game, and there will also be additional opportunities with the Easter Show being just next door.

"This is our chance as members and fans of this great club to come out and 'show your stripes'.

"Let's showcase the passion that exists in our club and support the team on what is a huge day in the rugby league calendar.

"There is no reason why this year we can't all rally behind our players and break crowd records."
