Wests Tigers are once again proud to partner with the NRL Road to Regions program, which kicks off this week.
Road To Regions, presented by Your local club, will see former and current NRL and NRLW stars take part in a broad range of community visits throughout February and March, across Australia, and for the first time - New Zealand!
Hitting the road on Tuesday, bound for Tamworth and Gunnedah, will be Wests Tigers players Botille Vette-Welsh and Justin Matamua.
The initiative targets regional and remote areas of Australia and New Zealand with the specific objective to support and empower rugby league communities, to ensure their success and to grow the game.
These visits include targeted educational programs at schools, visits to junior rugby league clubs, meet and greets, development opportunities i.e., coaching and refereeing updates, and participation in local community events.
Vette-Welsh, who combines her playing duties with her role as Wests Tigers Community Engagement Coordinator, says she’s excited about the next few days.
“I love being involved in game development activities like this,” said Vette-Welsh.
“It means a lot to the communities in regional areas, and they really get behind it.
It’s a wonderfully rewarding experience.
Botille Vette-Welsh
“As a club we have a very strong bond with the Tamworth area and I think it’s great that we are again taking a home their later in the season.”
