Schools Blitz a huge success

Wests Tigers have completed the club's biggest Community Blitz, visiting some 96 primary schools in just two days.

It was a remarkable effort from the players and the Wests Tigers Community and Game Development team, and all are to be congratulated.

There were thousands of smiles from appreciative school children from Annandale to Warragamba and all places in between.

Thirty-six players visited 96 schools over the two-day blitz, covering the club’s vast catchment areas of the inner west and south west regions of Sydney.

This year’s Community Blitz roared into action on Tuesday, with the players setting off from Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

Some 28 players then backed up the next day to visit 33 schools in Sydney's Inner West, including the likes of local local juniors Luke Brooks, Adam Doueihi, Alex Seyfarth, and newly appointed captain Api Koroisau.

Last year’s Community Blitz was forced to go 'virtual' due to the Covid pandemic, but still managed to engage with more than 10,000 students across 57 schools.

This year's Blitz will have topped that number, and then some.

Wests Tigers Community Manager, Keehan Diamond says he could not be happier with how the two days panned out.

“What we achieved with last year’s ‘virtual blitz’ was amazing when you think about it, but this week’s blitz has been magic,”  said Diamond.

Seeing the students’ faces light up when they interact with the players, is priceless.

“I can't thank our players enough, they were terrific.

“You only need look at the list of schools we visited, in a two-day period, to appreciate the scale of this initiative.

"Who knows how many young Wests Tigers fans we might have attracted over the couple of days.

"That aside, it's just great to be doing what we do, and that's enriching the lives of our community."
